As well as fixed tours, I offer is a bespoke service to anyone that might want an organised walking tour, navigation training or a nature walk. I hosted such a group recently for a day walk, escaping London to experience the countryside surrounding my hometown of Berkhamsted with lunch in a historic public house.
When Louise, the Group’s Leader contacted me earlier in the year she said her group were new to hiking and wanted a fun hiking experience in the great outdoors whilst learning a little about the local area. Perfect! She’d found my details online, and we discussed requirements by email and phone call.
The day didn’t start perfectly though, their car broke down on the way here and they almost didn’t make it. When they arrived, it was alot later than expected so we swapped the day around by having lunch first, then a walk in the afternoon.
One of the best solutions for lunch is the historic Kings Arms, once the premier Coaching Inn of the town and now a fantastic bustling local eatery. After a lovely meal, we set off into the hills to explore the history and wildlife.
It’s so enjoyable introducing new walkers to my part of the Chiltern Hills.
